How to find your calling in life. How to find your calling. What then is the difference between vocation and mission? What is your mission, what is your calling?

Many of us believe in the existence of a magical substance called “calling.” “If only I could find my calling,” we say bitterly. “I would be happy if I found my calling...”

What to say? Vocation is a reality, and an incredibly powerful one. But almost everything people know about his search is completely wrong. This is exactly what Oliver Emberton talks about in his latest article. We continue to reflect on personal effectiveness!

First rule: Vocation is a consequence of success

All our emotions arise as a consequence of something. We experience hunger in order to maintain the vital functions of the body and not die from malnutrition. Saturation comes as a signal that there is enough food, and if you continue to eat, you may burst. And we feel that we have found a calling, as confirmation that our efforts are focused on what we get the best possible results from.

Imagine that you have signed up for a dance course. It's easy for you. You quickly realize that you do better than others.

The growing inspiration that you experience is your calling. This is what motivates you to come again and again, develop skills and increase the intensity of the load.

The main enemy of such interest is disappointment. If you constantly struggle with something, you will definitely never find your calling in it. You are completely trying to avoid such situations, denying the very possibility of development in this area.

Many people realize this as time passes. They think that if we find our calling, this a priori distinguishes us in some area. Basically, it's more like self-hypnosis about your worth. In reality, calling is a consequence of success.

Second rule: Childhood is the time when vocation is destroyed in the bud

Theoretically, in childhood there is a unique opportunity to try yourself everywhere, to discover your talents and interests.

But think for a second how much the system is working against you. The school gives you the opportunity to study 20 subjects, while comparing you with thousands of other children. This is far from a level playing field. Most children, by definition, have average abilities. And it doesn’t matter at all how much we develop the education system, because people need to feel exceptional in order to find a calling, and the system simply raises the bar for the “average level.”

Let's say you were lucky and showed extraordinary abilities in mathematics in junior classes. The education system will help you grow to a certain level - for example, to a university - where you are no longer an exception. Even if you are objectively incredibly smart, one day you will simply feel like an average person and find that all the passion disappears. And this is provided that you are a lucky person, inclined towards the exact sciences.

What if your soul lies in art? Also in childhood interest in this area is doomed to be condemned by social realities. “It’s impossible to make a living from painting,” your parents say. “Your brother excelled in engineering. Why don't you follow in his footsteps? So, you put all your aspirations aside and let them fade away.

The planet's population numbers billions of people. Obviously, not everyone can be extraordinarily gifted in a limited number of academic subjects. What if your talent lies in public speaking, or dancing, or creating YouTube video announcements for video games? None of this is in the school curriculum.

Thus, most people grow up with no interest in anything.

Rule three: a calling can be created

This rule will help you understand that the most successful people chose an unfinished script, just like taking a book from a shelf.

In fact, many successful people have dropped out. Not because they were stupid - but because they discovered other areas where they found use for themselves. The education system would not have noticed this.

They created their own sphere of interest.

Only a very small proportion of people can excel in the highly specialized subjects that school offers in childhood. And, in fact, your competitors in this area are “everyone who went to school.” This does not improve your chances at all.

But if you go beyond that, you'll find less competition and more opportunity. And here you take the first step towards new opportunities.

Possibility 1: Create something

When you create something new, you are inventing something to interest your tastes.

You could design new couch cushions, or write about Batman, or create a Twitter account where you write reviews about the work of politicians.

New things are relatively undeniable. By creating something new, your opportunity to become special in that area increases enormously.

Now, it is important to note that this does not change the first rule: calling is a consequence of success. So if your new Twitter account has only gained 5 followers in a year, you're probably not going to be very inspired. But if you had 5 million subscribers, you would quit your job. You have to be successful to fuel your interest.

But at the very least, you've greatly expanded your options because competition is limited. Only a few people will dare to try something new. And you can become one of them just by getting started.

You can detect this tendency in the example of prominent individuals. Student Mark did not set out to become the best programmer in the world. But he began to create good websites, and found that he was very good at it, because better programmers than him had never tried to create something new. And quite by chance it happened that one of his small experiments was the social network Facebook.

Opportunity 2: Set a trend

The older and more established your area of interest becomes, the more difficult it will be to compete in it. Millions of people before you tried to do this, and the less they differed from the rest, the less opportunities they had to find their calling in this area.

But you can always find a new area of interest - an area where any other person is completely unsuitable, and even your modest skills can be impressive.

Let's imagine that you are a teenager who started filming and posting videos on YouTube back in 2001. People follow you and your increasing success inspires you. By the time the “adult” world realized that YouTube was a promising project with a four billion daily audience, you had become a recognized master of a new and invaluable art.

This is not fiction. A huge number of successful YouTubers started the same way: before everyone else. It's the same story with the first bloggers, rappers and video game designers.

If you have found something new that is constantly developing, and learned to use it early, it will not be difficult for you to stand out, thanks to minimal competition. This is where your calling lies.

Possibility 3: Combining Abilities

The education system limits the range of your abilities. She usually finds the area in which you are most capable and develops it as long as you can stand it.

The problem is that most of us, by definition, cannot be the best in any one area. But we can be exceptional in our combinations of abilities.

Let's say you are a good artist with a good sense of humor. You won't find yourself if you take an academic degree in the arts, but you won't be able to study "humor" as a subject either. But you could become a great animator.

Or take the average management student with programming ability and good sales skills. This person is surprisingly well suited to be a leader for those who were better than him in only one area.

The most successful people are almost impossible to characterize as specialists in any one field. They represent a collection of skills and abilities and are often not outstanding. But they made this collection special. Steve Jobs was not the best engineer in the world or a consummate salesman, designer, or businessman. But he was undeniably good enough in all of these areas, and made something much more out of them.

The main advice on the path to finding your calling: combine your abilities into something more valuable. Remember, calling is a consequence of success. If the combination of your abilities is effective, this may be your calling.

Why is calling important?

The calling is attractive. Since it is based on the belief in its exclusivity, then to be interested is the right way say to yourself: “By the way, I’m cool.”

Your interest will make people follow you. Makes them believe you. But more importantly, your passion will interest you. Engagement is an emotion designed to make you go crazy and go out of your way just because you truly believe it can change the world. Such passion, like love, is a feeling worth fighting for.

And, like love, what you find yourself in is too important to be left to chance. If you haven't found your calling yet, make discoveries, set trends, combine abilities. But never stop looking for something new!

A person can live his life without ever finding himself. Sometimes the reason is upbringing, when parents devalue the interests of their child. The daughter wants to write, but the mother says: “You won’t earn anything, what kind of profession is this: a scribbler?” The son wants to design airplanes, but the father flatly refuses to pay for such training. As a result, the young man goes to study to become a mechanic or manager, completes his studies, gets a job and goes there every day with reluctance, as if to torture, waiting for Friday already on Monday, and the evening - already in the morning.

A person who works in his favorite field is always in the best mood. By dissolving in a profession to one’s liking, a person lives a more interesting life and works with greater zeal and dedication.

What is my purpose in life?

Numerology can answer this question. With the help of this science, you can calculate your destiny by date of birth and name. Calculation using the Pythagorean square will indicate your abilities and talent.

And if you adhere to traditional methods, then you know that books on pedagogy and psychology have been written long ago, in which there is a lot of information for determining and further development abilities. If you still haven't found yourself, you can try to find out using some methods:

  • taking tests to identify hidden talents (in psychology books or on the Internet);
  • write down on a piece of paper those activities that interest you and make you happy;
  • set a goal: what to strive for in order to get what you want from life.

The author, En Stein, tells how to figure out your calling. In this book you will not find traditional aptitude tests - only unusual spiritual practices. According to the author, by determining your element, drawing up a map of life, asking the planets for help, you can determine what you want to do for the rest of your life.

But here’s a more down-to-earth example: practically the girl’s namesake, Albert Einstein, is the author of the famous theory of relativity and many works on quantum physics: photoelectric effect theory, heat capacity theory, Bose-Einstein statistics, many books on history, philosophy, science and other fields.

But Einstein for a long time could not get a job after graduating, but despite all the difficulties in life, he continued to work on what he loved. As a result, he derived the famous formula E=mc2, for which he became a Nobel Prize laureate.

Paradoxically, this formula became the formula of his calling. This is a brilliant example of a person who has found his place in life and an important message to humanity: look for yourself, live better life, be helpful.

The majority of the Russian population follows a well-worn scenario: study, work, home, children. Some people find passion in gardening, others in computer games, some love traveling, and some find joy in volunteering and helping people or animals. But there are also those who have not determined their place in life. Routine and monotony do not allow them to develop and feel like an important link in society. People who persist in searching for their “I” eventually find a point of departure and live a life full of bright colors.

Here are examples of real stories from the lives of ordinary people who found themselves after 30 years.

How a psychologist found himself in carpentry

Fedor Smekhov has two higher education. He successfully graduated from Moscow State University with honors, got a job in his profession and... thought about it. Is this what he would like to do in life?

What brought him real pleasure was hidden in games and furniture. Fedor, without thinking twice, drew up an action plan to make his dream come true. He found a company that deals with video games and joined it as a game designer, without having the slightest experience in this field.

Later, he decided to go to vocational school to study carpentry, and even applied for it. But in the end, I didn’t go to study because I found a quicker way: I found a restorer and asked him for advice on where it was better to study. And the next morning I already started practicing in his workshop.

After a year of work, he realized that his life’s work was furniture. After the restoration he began working as a carpenter. After some time, he left his job and started working part-time, taking on private orders. At the same time, he was fulfilling the task of a curator, because he entered the British high school design.

Natalya Kiseleva wrote about show business and culture. She was subscribed to celebrity blogs, and one day on one of the pages she read a post about a collection of volunteers accompanying a bus with humanitarian aid to Krymsk, destroyed by flood. Kiseleva responded, but did not know where she was going and why.

After Natalya entered the first house, where an elderly woman lay under the rubble for two days, the journalist’s instinct kicked in. She immediately pulled the woman out from under the rubble, gave her water to drink, and threw on a dry blanket. It was as if she had been doing this all her life.

All summer she was in Krymsk, helping people. When I returned home, I could no longer engage in journalistic work - the very thought that I would have to go to shows and write boring articles about fashion collections and other “beauty nonsense” was disgusting. Kiseleva realized that her past life was no longer interesting to her, and her calling was to help people, to be a volunteer.

Such stories. In general, getting to know yourself is quite simple - listen to your inner voice and don’t be afraid of change. Read books about where and how to look for sources of inspiration and development, and let your life be filled with meaning and happiness.

There is only one way to live a happy life - find a job you love
Steve Jobs

Every person has life experiences that cannot be thrown away. Each of us is like a nesting doll. Every year of life is like a layer. And the person grows and grows. As a child, he loved one thing, then another, his friends recommended a third, then his mother suggested a fourth.

I watched some movie - fifth. In childhood, everyone is under the rule of random authorities. For example, I was in love with Alice from the movie “Guest from the Future.” He even wrote letters to her from the pioneer camp. And it’s very good that she didn’t answer me. Because I don’t even know what I would do with her now.

As a person grows, he wants many different things. If all children's dreams came true, then all men would be astronauts and women would be princesses. I also wanted different things, but I didn’t know exactly how to realize myself in life. And when a person doesn’t know what to do, he does what most people do. Everyone is chasing money, fame. I searched for myself for a long time until I came back to myself. I thought that I need to do what I truly love. I truly love training. I have been an athlete since childhood, since I was 5 years old. I really like to train. It gives me a thrill to do exercises and see what results I get. But I didn’t know how to make money from sports. After a long break, returning to sports seemed impossible to me. In addition, I became an orthodox religious person. And the routine in my life is established according to the priority of religion. But sports and religion are completely different topics.

If everything in the world is meaningless, what prevents you from inventing some meaning?
Alice in Wonderland.

I've always liked helping people. I get high when people benefit from me. I get joy, they thank me. I found two things I loved my whole life: training and helping people. Next, I started training myself first. I had many very different problems. There was a phobia public speaking and I started learning from great self-development coaches. From experience in sports, I knew that it is important that a person has a great coach. I started learning from good trainers and immediately helping good people. Who did not have the opportunity to learn from these coaches. I explained for free what I had learned myself. And so I realized - this is my calling. I am a self-development coach. That's how I became a coach. .

Already at a fairly mature age, after 30 years, I was able to completely change myself and learn dozens of new skills. I created the "3-P Overlearning System" and the "Three Lever" skill creation system. In the chapter on learning, I will tell you how easy it is to learn new knowledge and skills. True, I have never been a pregnant or nursing mother, but I think that a 30-year-old athlete is not much smarter than a nursing mother. Therefore, my experience and methodology will definitely suit you.

How long does it take to find a destination?

You ask, who would I be if I had not become a popular performer? I believe that an unpopular performer!
Christina Aguilera

As soon as I came across the first book on development and it benefited me, I knew this was it.

After the first training I took, I immediately realized that I wanted to be a coach. I was already 33 years old then. The first books that helped me in my development: Tony Buzan, Stephen Covey. I realized these are people. They really make a difference in other people's lives. And I immediately realized that I wanted to do this. And thanks to the professional, sports approach, I immediately decided that I wanted to be the best in the world in teaching. After all, I was 3rd in sports at the World Junior Championships, which means I can do the same in teaching.

Two main “engines” in the search for purpose

The best reward in our life is the opportunity to do something that is worth it.
Theodore Roosevelt.

The first “driver” is those activities that you have loved for many years. You just need to remember and write it down on a piece of paper. All activities that I have consistently loved for many years. I love the process, not the results. Of course, performance results are important. But they depend largely on the skill of the person. And skill is acquired under the guidance of experienced masters or trainers.

It often happens that a person has a calling for something. He loves something and it gives him great pleasure to do it. But there are no results. The person thinks: This is a sign that it’s not working out. It's just not my thing. And he throws it away. And he simply approached this matter incorrectly. Not professional at all. This means that the first engine in the search for purpose is LOVE. Love for some activity.

The second “engine” is problems. There is one very positive grain in the problems. This is the motivation to solve them. A huge motivation, which is popularly called “the roasted rooster pecked.” While there is a problem, I really want to solve it. And when you decide, joy and pleasure appear. This is the second “engine”.

What helped me was that I had a lot of problems. I solved these problems and I combined it with what I had loved all my life before.

And this scheme should help every person find a purpose.

Some 2-3 things that you enjoy doing. I enjoyed the workout.

Then, to this you need to add some of your own problems that you want to solve. If you have this problem, other people have it too. Then you take what you love, the problems that you have. You start to solve your problems, and from this it should turn out your calling. A calling is what you want to do and what you can do.

Two components of calling

Motivation for the process. Love for the process. A person should do what he loves.

Then you need to learn how to get results. And with them money and recognition.

All together this gives a calling. It is also commonly called PURPOSE.

Joke:
The plane is hijacked by terrorists. They threaten to kill a hostage every hour.
One in a mask grabs the first woman he comes across and asks:

- The name of?

- Zulfiya.

– I can’t be killed, my first love’s name was Zulfiya.

He grabs the second hostage.

- What is your name?

- Vi.. cha..., but my friends often call me Zulfiya.

What then is the difference between vocation and mission? What is your mission, what is your calling?

A mission is something that a person then sets for himself. A calling is something that is put into it by GOD.

What is stitched into it. Let's call it that. I really like the definition of CALLING that is in the Oral Torah. Every person has something that is already wired into them. It is written in the Proverbs of King Solomon: raise a teenager, a young man according to his calling. His temperament, his essence, what he loves. There are people who love to study, and there are those who do not like to study. It is said in the Torah: if a person loves to shed blood, then this is his calling. But how he implements this, there are options. Choice between Good and Evil. He can become a military man and fight. Maybe go to the police and catch villains. He can go to a meat processing plant and kill animals and give meat to people. He can become a surgeon and save people's lives. These are all people who shed blood, they all shed blood. They love it, they like it. It's impossible to be a surgeon if you don't like cutting. I know such people. One girl surgeon is just a fan. She is a surgeon, Candidate of Sciences, so she is in the hospital where she works and almost lives. She loves saving people. Another person cannot do this at all; many cannot see blood.

This is a calling. It's that you have a predisposition for it. Everyone says: tell me exactly what profession should I go into? I say: I don't know. Vocation is expressed in the fact that you love to do some actions, you love the process. I consider this a calling.

Then, you must come up with a profession for this calling. Find a profession that suits what you love to do. Then you will be engaged in this profession for a long time, efficiently, with love.

And then, if you have good teachers and coaches, you will be able to learn how to do this profession very well and become a successful person in this profession. This is a calling. This is the way. You find something you love, then you begin to improve in this profession and get results, and then you have realized your calling. This is called realizing your calling, when you do what you love and get results in the form of money and calling.

If you see a master who is quick in his craft, he will stand before kings.
Parables of King Solomon.

A mission is what a person does in order to change something in the world, in the destinies of other people. A mission is when he wants to do something for others.

A person sets a mission for himself. She can't be found. It is a person's choice to give up his selfishness and do something for other people.

For example, one person says: I am a great doctor. This is my calling. A . And then he can help as a doctor, as a volunteer, as anyone. Or my mission is to bring people closer to God. Or help children. Mission is when you do something spiritual, which does not lead you to your goal, but changes something in the world around you, making the world a better place. This is from the spiritual realm. And the calling is from the material sphere.

A person feels the meaning and purpose of his own life only when he realizes that others need him.
Stefan Zweig

Practical actions to find your calling (destination)

A profession should initially be an act of love. And not a marriage of convenience.
Murakami Haruki

Can you recommend daily active actions, steps, to a person who is looking for his calling? I don’t know my calling, what I need to do every day to slowly get closer to it.

I have a completely clear system. I need to sit down. Sit down now. Do the exercise. Take a piece of paper and write a list of things you like to do for at least 2-3 years. For example, what do you like to do: cook, clean? Some people love it. My wife loves to iron and fold everything. My daughter loves to sing, dance, and perform. Every person should find what he loves to do, the process itself, he gets high from it.

This is the first step: write down 4-5 actions that you have loved to do for many years. For example, any woman will write, I love sex. This is also normal. And some people don't like it. What's most interesting is that God made the world so that there are absolutely amazing things that someone loves to do. And they get high from it. And this is precisely why they exist and make money. There are people who like to clean and build things. There are lovers everywhere you look.

God gave love to someone for all things in the world, that’s why the world exists. Find what you love. This is the first part of the exercise.

After you have written what you like to do, write what professions there are in which people do something similar. What professions are there that people engage in and they are known, realized, and receive money for it. Glory. Success.

And look: I love to cook. Who of those who like to cook gets good money. Cooks, chefs. There are people who teach cooking. Restaurant critics. There are people who love to cook, the owner of a restaurant, a cafe.

For each favorite activity, do research. You can ask people around. You can google it. What professions are there that specifically realize my love? And it turns out that you have a list of many professions. Next you see: in order to succeed in any business, you need to do this business for 5-7 years. 10 thousand hours. From the proposed list of professions, you look at what is more accessible to you and possible for implementation.

You have to imagine this: I will be cooking for 5-7 years. I will be a chef, I love to cook - that’s one story. But I’ll stand in the kitchen 8 hours a day with a frying pan – that’s completely different. Then you cross out from this list of professions what is definitely not yours and you are left with a list of what is POSSIBLY yours.

For example, you like to write on the Internet. Journalists write and get paid. Bloggers write and get paid. Find familiar bloggers or friends of your acquaintances. We need to see how this work happens in reality. Feel it with your hands or see it with your eyes.

For example, what professions are associated with a love of sex?

Some people write articles or books about this. There was a woman alone, a housewife.

The history of the creation of the trilogy "50 shades of gray"

The idea to write her own book came to Erica’s mind when she first became acquainted with the work of the notorious Stephenie Meyer.

This event happened in 2009. At that moment Mrs. Leonard, having moved away from labor activity, mastered the role of an ordinary housewife.

Stephenie Meyer's book Twilight literally changed Erica Leonard's life. After all, it was based on her that fan fiction was created, which later resulted in original work"50 Shades of Gray" and its sequels. Immediately after its release (in 2011), the book became a bestseller in the US and UK. So Erica Leonard made her dream come true.

Erica Leonard does not hide the fact that she reflected all her erotic fantasies in the trilogy. Not suffering from hypocrisy, the writer became the idol of many women, opening for them a world where the concept of “No” does not exist.

A happy mother and wife, Erica, the author of 50 Shades of Gray, is now successfully moving up the career ladder and is actively writing a continuation of the story about Christian and Anastacia. By the way, according to Time magazine, in 2012 the former housewife was included in the hundred most influential people in the world.

Some people just love sex, while others make it their calling and open a sex shop. Massage therapists, fitness trainers, for example, there is such a profession as “psychologist-sexologist”.

A patient comes to a psychiatrist:
- Doctor, everyone says that I am a sexual maniac.

Doctor:- Curious, let's check it now.
He takes out a piece of paper on which a square is drawn. What is drawn here?

Patient:- It's simple. It's a bed. They have sex on it!

The doctor takes out the following piece of paper, with a triangle:- Well, what is drawn here?

Patient (giggling):- Well, doctor, right there... I don’t even feel comfortable talking.

The doctor shows a piece of paper with a circle:- And what's that?

Patient:- Well, that’s actually... I’m embarrassed to say it out loud!

Doctor:- Well, everything is clear. You really are a maniac.

Patient:- But you, doctor, are also a sexual maniac? Admit it?

Doctor:- Why do you think so?

Patient:-Where did you get such pictures?

When you find what you love, you need to find people who are the best in these professions. Either meet these people, or read, watch interviews, see how their work happens and try to enter this profession as an apprentice. At least for a couple of weeks, absolutely free. To see if this is really what you dreamed of.

I remember how I once searched for myself, before I became a coach. I was a businessman, I was engaged different types business. I tried to make money. Then, he became a religious person. For 5 years I studied only religion. Only spiritual growth, no work at all. He lived on alms. What was donated to religious people. And then I realized that this was not my path in life.

And just when I was 33 years old, I began to look for my path. This was before I started to solve my problems and solved them with the help of training and realized that it was mine. My first idea was to open a restaurant. I remembered that all my conscious life I loved to sit in a cafe, restaurant and chat with people. I thought that if I love sitting in a restaurant and socializing, then I’ll open a restaurant. I will sit in a restaurant and chat. and people will pay me money.

This will be my restaurant. And I thought I should test this idea. I wanted to take a cooking course. From my past experience, I remembered how I got burned when I did business in an area I didn’t know. In which you are not a professional. It is very easy to get frustrated in a new field due to lack of experience and knowledge. I had a lot of failures.

I then decided that I would go technically. And I started looking for chef courses. When I finish my cooking courses, I’ll go to some cafe. I’ll work as a cook for a month and learn how the kitchen works. I will know from the inside how the kitchen works. I'll work as a waiter. I'll study how they work. And only after that, when I know the whole process from the inside, then I will open a cool cafe. And this plan broke down for me. Because I read Tony Buzan's book and it went away. Then Stephen Covey, then I went to Dale Carnegie’s training. And then I took training from Tony Robbins and Merlin Atkinson. It was from her that I received my diploma and the profession of Business Trainer. This was in 2006.

I thought: this is much better for me. I am correcting myself. I train all the time. I teach other people, they get results. They are satisfied and happy, they pay me money, and then thank me for the rest of their lives. What could be better? That's how I found my purpose.

If I had not become a business coach, I would have realized my second love. I love training and fixing my problems and helping people. And also sit in a restaurant and chat. I could realize myself as the owner of a cafe or restaurant.

A specialist is someone who knows a lot about very little.
N. Butler

You go towards your goal and it doesn’t work out. How do you know when to continue and when to retreat?

Let me give you an example from personal practice. It was like that in sports. At first I had a very cool swimming coach, a European champion. Although maybe she wasn't a great coach. Being an athlete or a specialist in any activity does not guarantee that a person can teach it.

But this is not the main thing. The main thing is that I didn't like swimming. And I left the voyage. It is impossible and unrealistic to do something you don’t love. Even if you have good results, there is no pleasure.

A new, world-famous conductor comes to the orchestra. First rehearsal. All musicians play as well as possible. And only the first violin of the orchestra constantly bends. The conductor stops the rehearsal and asks:
- Don’t you like the way I conduct?
- What do you? I really like it - says the “first violin”. And he continues to play and grimace terribly.
The new conductor stops the rehearsal again.
- Don’t you like the Bach piece we’re playing?
“I like it...” answers the “first violin” and grimaces even more.
-So what's wrong with your face? Why are you so unhappy? - asks the conductor.

“I DON’T LIKE MUSIC,” answered the “first violin” with a sigh.

I started looking for a sport that I liked. I found athletics. And in the beginning I had a bad coach. Not that it's terribly bad. Just a coach. Who received his salary at the Children's and Youth Sports School (children's and youth sports school) and did not overexert himself. It's like there are 100 hairdressers in every district. And there are 2-3 famous masters in the city.

I did what I loved, and it didn’t work out for me. I wanted to quit already. I trained for 5 years and dreamed of becoming a champion. And I didn't succeed. I was ready to give up everything. But then 2 important things coincided. I had a favorite thing to do and a good coach appeared. I became the champion of the USSR, and then third at the World Championships. If you do what you love and it doesn’t work out for you, then you need to learn how to do it correctly. Don't give up what you love, think. Look for a coach, an expert. Study books. You need a great coach. If you have a favorite thing to do, the question is in the coach.

Is it possible or impossible to know initially what will work? You choose a profession according to your calling. Are there any guarantees?

There are no guarantees in this world. The only thing that can be said for sure is that all great people agree that you should do what you love.

You need to start by finding what you love. Then the fact is that you love to find a profession and learn, and then you will do what you love and will be fulfilled in this favorite activity. Money, success, fame and recognition will come to you. And you can't trip here. impossible to trip. You do what you love, do it right and develop in it. This is a very important detail, it is more important than everything else. Every day to develop, learn, allocate an hour a day. Each person is required to spend at least 15 min. up to an hour a day to develop in life. Read professional literature. Getting better every day.

If any person does what he loves and reads 12 professional books a year, he will grow. He can't fail to do this. But if he doesn't do what he loves, he won't read 12 books. He doesn't need it at all.

When does the money start coming in? And will they definitely come if you carry out the plan that you told?

“I am strong, determined and persistent, and without these character traits you will never achieve success. Being firm does not mean being unpleasant, quarrelsome or unreasonable. Grit is tenacity and a categorical refusal to give up or give in. Truly valuable things rarely come easy and usually require careful preparation, time and hard work.”
Donald Trump

Money is made up of two main factors. The first factor is: what value do you provide to people? If you give people value, then the money will be returned to you. There are 2 ways to give people value: the first is you invest. Let's take the example of a house. To sell apartments there, you must first buy land. Invest and invest. Then you create value and the money comes. It’s the same in any profession. You must become a professional. You have to really give people some value and the more value you give, the more return you get.

Everyone today measures what value they provide. How to measure this? How much money are you making now? What value you give is how much money you receive. If you are easy to replace and millions of people can do the same, then the value you can create is small. A loader can move cargo from place to place. Lots of people can do the same. Therefore, the value of this action is not great. But the nuclear power plant engineer knows something special. It is not easy to replace. And its value is higher. And millions of people want to see Nastya Kamenskikh. Therefore, the value of her creativity and communication is growing. Demand determines the price.

Then you can increase your value. Increase your ability to sell your value. This is a separate skill, the ability to sell. There are people who don't know how to sell. They can provide cool value. but they don't know how to sell. And others have the skill of selling. Then they offer their skill to sell to those people who do not have it. And the money comes back to them. For example, when I started my journey as a coach, I knew how to sell. That’s why my first corporate training client started paying me $1,500 a day. Although before that I received the same amount in Israel for a month of work. It was precisely because I knew how to sell that I asked the question - how much is the maximum you pay to the business trainers you invite? They said $1,500 a day. I agreed that I would conduct one training and then the participants, the best employees of the company, would be surveyed and find out how much my training was needed by their company. What value do I bring? They responded after the training that my training was the best they had ever had. That's why they started paying me at the maximum rate.

So I conducted corporate trainings for a year. All this time I increased my value. I wanted to learn how to gather groups and conduct my own “open trainings”. This is a completely different skill. A year has passed and I have learned. Then I learned how to write articles. Then I learned to write books. I started writing 1-2 books a year. Conduct open trainings and continue to conduct corporate ones. However, because of the additional value that came to me through daily training, I gradually raised the price to 7,000 euros per day. And as I continue to grow through learning new valuable skills and knowledge every day, I hope to reach the value of such outstanding trainers as Tony Robbins, Robin Sharma, Brian Tracy. Their value is measured by the fee they receive for performing. For example, Tony Robbins makes $1 million a day. Robin Sharma brings less benefit to people and that is why his fee is “only” 100 thousand dollars a day.

The main answer to the question of when the money will come is to learn daily those skills that will increase your value. The faster you learn to benefit people and the skill of “selling” your results, the faster and more money you will have in your life.

And let me remind you once again of my main scheme, according to which you can draw up a development plan in any area.

There are few things in this world that are unattainable: if we had more persistence, we could find a way to almost any goal.
La Rochefoucauld F.

  1. Define your goal. As specific as possible. Don’t evaluate its realism, but evaluate your desire to achieve it. Even the most difficult goal, with a great desire, is easier to achieve than a small one without desire.
  2. Find those people who have already achieved it. At least 5 people who started from a situation similar to yours.
  3. Learn in detail how they started. What did they study, do, know? Read their interviews and stories about them. In general, maximum information about their path.
  4. After you understand what they knew, were able to do, and did, draw up your development plan. How to become the person who can achieve the goal you set. No one is born already perfect. All people who have achieved success CREATE THEMSELVES.

Quote:

You are what you do.
You are your choice. The one you turn yourself into.
It is impossible to find yourself - you can only create yourself.
Johnny Depp

When I realized I wanted to teach, I found the best trainers in the world. I studied their path. Where did they start, what can they do? Every day I learned, developed, invested time and effort to grow as a coach. This separate work. Then at some point I grew up. Learned additional skills. Write articles, books, maintain pages on social networks. I learned how to show the world that I am a good coach. Every day for 2 years I wrote one article. I have written 13 books. Recently I was remembering how I wrote 13 books? Every day I sat and wrote. And to write, you need to read for at least an hour. Then think it over and process everything. For about 5 years I have been investing, putting in my labor, mostly my time, and for the last 2-3 years I have been harvesting. This is true in any case.

Summary

The most important thing: find what you love. Find someone who makes money doing what you love. Find out what he can do and what he has learned. How is he different from you and set a goal over the next year to acquire the skills that helped him realize his calling.

A person must improve himself. Finding a calling is like finding an engine within yourself that drives you through life. And second, he must put everything else on this engine. Lots of new skills. Additional skills, etc. And when he applies the right skills to this engine, to what he wants, then this is self-realization. Success, money, etc.

Life calling is primarily associated with the choice of profession. But we are talking about a profession that will become the basis and meaning of life. To become a good specialist, you need to not only learn professional knowledge, skills and abilities, but to feel the harmony of the personal “I” and the professional “I”. We will talk about how to achieve this.

The ideal activity corresponds to, interests, and. Under this condition, the person is satisfied with himself and his work.

Job satisfaction criteria:

  • time passes unnoticed, Mondays don’t seem like hard days;
  • every day is perceived as new opportunities, and not as another torment;
  • you don’t feel tired; on the contrary, your energy level increases;
  • you enjoy going to work;
  • they come to you for professional advice.

So what is a calling? This is what you want and can do, get paid for it, and make a tangible contribution to society. Although financial benefits do not always bring the desired results. But if we are talking about a profession, then over time this can really be achieved.

What prevents you from finding a calling?

Some people don't even begin to look for their calling. They are stopped by self-doubt, public,.

It’s rare that someone manages to find their path the first time. More often, people take “their” place in adulthood. But to find this place, you need to try yourself in different professions and fields. This is where many stop: leaving the usual, trying something new, deviating from the usual is scary.

The situation gets worse if society puts pressure on a person. This happens when there is a desire to exchange a stable job in an office for unstable self-employment, the realization of one’s dreams, and the revelation of personal potential. Some say that this is not serious, others say that you need to feed your family, children, and pay off your mortgage. And sometimes this really happens. Not everyone can take risks, give up everything and go nowhere. But some people are only held back by their “demons” of consciousness. There are no loans, no wives, but fear turns out to be stronger than the desire to try oneself in a new direction.

Another obstacle is comparing yourself to others. You should never rely on someone else's success or failure. You are not this person. You have different experience, habits, knowledge, abilities. In some ways you are worse and in some ways better than other people, because you are basically a different person. In any case, you can only compare yourself with yourself.

Well, the last thing that often prevents a person from finding himself in life is the expectation of quick results, the inability to experience failures, weak, insufficient determination. Any business requires time to master, even if you have the appropriate inclinations and inclinations for this type of activity. After all, it is the result of hard work.

In many cases, the result is delayed. At first, the effort involved far outweighs the results. But it is important to remember the future and adequately evaluate the results at the moment.

How to find a calling

To determine your vocation, I suggest using two interrelated exercises. There are many methods that allow you to get to know yourself better and decide on a profession, but these, in my opinion, are the most effective, concise and multifunctional.

Self-portrait

Swipe written analysis, search for common ground of interests, skills, abilities, character. How to do it:

  • write down 20 striking traits of your character, strengths;
  • write down 20 things you love to do;
  • write down 20 points of what you can do or what you can learn if you wish.

Analyze the results, write down several professions in which you can try yourself. For example, you love to be the center of attention, you have a loud voice, and you know how to attract and win over people. Perhaps you should take a vocal course and try yourself in this area. They say that anyone can be taught to sing. But not all people are endowed with a strong voice.

Portrait of a profession

Describe in detail your preferred employment: schedule, working hours, weekends, responsibilities. The more points you write, the better. It is important to know not only your own characteristics, but also to know what exactly you are looking for, what kind of job you dream of. Don’t forget to ask yourself questions: “Why do I need this job?”, “What do I want and can give to society?”

See if there are any overlapping positions in the results of the first and second tasks. If in doubt, contact someone you trust. The more independent experts you involve, the better.

Afterword

A calling is a message, an idea that you bring to the world. This is your task, the desire to change something in society. Think about how you can help this world, how you can and want to improve it.

Think about whether there is something you are willing to do even for free. Is there something you can’t imagine yourself without? Do it in any condition, at any time. Look for your calling in this area.

“There is one thing that most people do not know: happiness is possible only when you realize yourself as a person, when you realize your calling, your nature. If you stick to something, some familiar place, stability - there will be stability. But there will never be satisfaction. Internally you need to weigh what you want: external stability or to be happy man", - Oleg Gadetsky, psychologist.

Understand your purpose in life, understanding why you appeared on Earth is sometimes as difficult as putting together a puzzle, the particles of which are scattered all over the world. Some people never put this puzzle together into a single picture, because they often lack patience and desire. Or perhaps they are too afraid of this...

However, the five pieces of the puzzle called "my purpose in life", which you need to complete the whole picture, are quite easy to find.

These are the components that need to be put together

1. Identify your talents and passions

This is probably the simplest and most the usual way determining your calling in life. So start there.

Following your talents and passions will lead you to satisfaction, happiness, and even allow you to earn a living (and possibly much more). It doesn't matter whether your talent is innate or acquired. You have a talent and it was given to you for a purpose.

To discover your talent and discover your passions, consider the following:

What makes you cry with joy?
What makes you smile?
What do other people honestly say you are good at?
What makes you laugh?
What keeps you up all night because you just can't stop?

2. Look into your past

Sometimes it can be difficult to remember your past. There are many such events that I would like to erase from my memory. However, that would be stupid. Instead, we must use our past to move forward to make sense of our present situation.

Looking into your past, with an attempt to determine your purpose, also consists of some pieces of the puzzle:

In what circumstances were you born?
Perhaps you were born into poverty. Then your mission could be to get out of poverty and lead others out of it, by example.

What were the main mistakes your parents made? With which negative traits did they fight their characters?

Were they abusive, perhaps addicted to alcohol, or involved in any other destructive behavior patterns? If so, then your goal may be to break this vicious cycle (not continue it). You must break with this and become an example for others.

What endeavor have you failed at?

Failure or failure should not become something permanent for you. They only exist to separate those who really want something from others. If a certain failure affects you so much, then your calling in life is to get back “in the game” and, using new approach, win this time.

Who influenced you the most (in a positive way)?

Was he/she your teacher? Actor? By the author? Director? President? Local hero? If they changed your life, then perhaps you should continue their mission?

3. There are three callings that unite us all

1. Be as happy as possible;
2. Live the way you want;
3. Change the lives of other people;
4. Leave the world behind a little better than that what he was like at our birth

And I say “yes” to all those negatively minded people... Yes, not everyone realizes these callings, but everyone could.

4. Be open to multiple destinations

Many of us have several purposes in life, but often we still have one main life mission and several smaller reasons for existence. It may be someone's calling to be a great parent, but they can also change the world in their own way.

However, it also happens that several purposes merge into one, more significant one. I was often told that I was good at writing and that I should think about turning this ability into a career, but I constantly “denied” it. However, one of my desires has always been to change the world. So one day, I just decided to combine the two and change the world through my writing.

Our vocation may also depend very much on our age. Usually, our goals are very materialistic when we are young, but they stop being so when we get older.

All this leads me to think about the fifth piece of the puzzle.

5. Find out what your calling is TODAY

What is the purpose of your being on Earth today is much more important than the purpose that you must achieve later in your life. Today is guaranteed, tomorrow not.

We wait for the perfect moment, but it doesn't exist. Concentrate on your calling today... tomorrow, next month, next year at the latest. Life flows now, not tomorrow.
