Intelligence Diagnostic Questionnaire (IQ)
The integral indicator of general mental abilities (IP) is calculated by the number of correctly solved problems (1 point for each correct answer).
Processing results and interpreting the test CAT (Short orientation, selection test by V.N. Buzin, E.F. Vanderlik. Intelligence Diagnostic Questionnaire - IQ)
The higher your score on this test, the higher your current level of intellectual development, the better your abilities for further learning and cognitive activity.
It is advisable to begin analyzing the results by determining the level of general mental abilities. To do this, the number of correctly solved problems (IP) is correlated with the level scale.
The value of the IP level of general mental abilities:
13 or less - low
14-18 - below average
19-24 - average
25-29 - above average
30 and more - high
A low result may not be reliable enough due to possible errors in compliance with testing conditions and understanding of instructions. Therefore, a low test result using this method can in no way be a sign of psychological professional unsuitability for any specialty. Only testing using other methods can provide reliable information about psychological contraindications to certain professions.
General mental development is determined not only by the sum of points received for the number of correctly solved problems.Qualitative analysis The test is carried out according to the following parameters:
- which tasks were solved most successfully (verbal, mathematical, spatial);
- what are the characteristics of thinking (generalization, flexibility, inertia, etc.).
Thus, tasks 10.13 require the development of arbitrariness, high concentration and distribution of attention.
Tasks 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 16, 19, 24, 28, 30, 43, 47, 48 determine the general level of awareness and development of linguistic abilities, and therefore characterize the quality of humanitarian education.
The level of education in the field of exact sciences is reflected in the success of completing numerical tasks to establish patterns with geometric figures (13, 17, 22, 27, 33, 42, 44, 46, 50).
Tasks 29, 32, 49 indicate the level of spatial orientation and abstract logical thinking person.

To successfully complete the test, a certain level of development of verbal, logical, numerical and spatial abilities is required. Verbal abilities are responsible for mastering the meaning of various words, understanding verbal analogies, and performing logical operations with individual words. This quality is associated with understanding the text, the ability to distinguish between the literal and figurative meaning of a statement, and correctly interpret it, abstracting from the meaning of a specific phrase. The degree of logical thinking indicates the ability to understand cause-and-effect relationships, search for patterns, and the ability to draw correct conclusions. Numerical abilities are the ability to perform quick and accurate calculations, logical reasoning, arithmetic skills, and understanding of mathematical operations. Spatial abilities include spatial imagination, mastery of geometric concepts, and the ability to mentally operate with objects on a plane and in space.
It is within your power to further develop these qualities. The level of development of intellectual abilities is not a person’s height or blood type, which are genetically determined and which cannot be changed. Intellectual capabilities are not only the conditions of learning, but also the result of previous learning. Intelligence tests do not measure the inclinations or potential of mental development, but only the level of development of the skills and abilities of cognitive activity that you have developed today.

It is still unknown how they will behave if you feel bad, whether they will need you. Friend, his sincere feelings for you and willingness to help can only be tested in a problematic situation. |
33 | A kind word to a man is like rain in a drought | The word has great strength. In difficult times kind word support can encourage a person, breathe life into him, and strengthen his strength. It's like a sip of water that quenches your thirst. |
34 | Your anger is your enemy | When angry, a person is capable of very bad things. In anger, a person does not understand the words he speaks. Therefore, you need to deal with anger the same way as with an enemy: try not to let it get to you, and not allow it to control you. |
35 | The mountain gave birth to a mouse | This is what they say about high hopes but little results, about someone who promises a lot but delivers little. |

CAT: Evaluation of results
It is advisable to begin analyzing the results by determining the level of general mental abilities. To do this, the number of correctly solved problems (IP) is correlated with the level scale. The established level is a multi-parameter indicator of general abilities. This technique allows you to isolate these parameters and analyze them.
Test for the reaction speed of the CPD in the Ministry of Internal Affairs - "Red Square" (online)
There is also another test at the testing center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that you may be asked to take. This is a reaction test called "Red Square".The essence of the test is that you sit at the computer while taking the test, they open a program with a pictured square edged in black, inside of which there is a smaller red square in the center. You need to hold the red square with your mouse and, while moving it, avoid “collisions” with other shapes and the edges of the large square.
You can try to take the Red Square reaction test online and find out your time in the emulator window below.
Take the Ministry of Internal Affairs VVK TsPD reaction test online ("running squares")

Rights in VK: “ Access to your friends list" And " Access anytime” are required so that you can see the tests that your friends have taken and see how many answers you have matched as a percentage. Wherein friends won't see answers to questions and results of your tests, but you will not see their results (see paragraph 1).
4. By authorizing on the site, you consent to the processing of personal data.
Integral indicator of general mental abilities(Ip) is equal to the number of correctly solved problems.
Interpretation of test results
It is advisable to begin analyzing the results by determining the level of general mental abilities. To do this, the number of correctly solved problems (IP) is correlated with the level scale.
The established level is a multi-parameter indicator of general abilities. This technique allows you to isolate these parameters and analyze them.
Ability to summarize and analyze material are established on the basis of completing tasks on proverbs. These tasks require abstraction from a specific phrase and a transition to the area of interpretation of meanings, establishing their intersections and a new return to specific phrases.
Flexibility of thinking as a component of general abilities is also determined by completing tasks on proverbs. If the subject’s associations are chaotic in nature, then we can talk about rigidity of thinking (for example, tasks such as No. 11).
Inertia of thinking and switchability – these are important characteristics of general learning abilities. To diagnose them, a special arrangement of tasks in this test is provided. The alternation of different types of tasks in the text can make it difficult for people with inert connections from past experience to solve them. Such persons have difficulty changing their chosen way of working, are not inclined to change the course of their judgments, or switch from one type of activity to another. Their intellectual processes are inactive, the pace of work is slow.
Emotional components of thinking and distractibility are identified by tasks that can reduce the test scores of subjects (24, 27, 31, etc.). Emotionally reacting subjects begin to smile and turn to the experimenter instead of being directed at the object, that is, the task.
Speed and accuracy of perception, distribution and concentration of attention are determined by tasks No. 8 and 13. They reveal the ability to work with a wide variety of material in a short time, highlight the main contents, compare numbers, signs, etc.
Language use, literacy can be analyzed based on the performance of tasks on the ability to use the language. Task No. 8 requires basic knowledge foreign language(within the alphabet).
Orientation is established through analysis of the test subject’s strategy for choosing problems to solve. Some subjects solve all problems in a row. Others – only those that are easy for them and can be solved quickly. Determining the ease of a solution is very individual. Here, in addition, the inclinations of the test takers are revealed. Some of them look at the tasks printed on this test sheet and first select mathematical problems that have numerical content, while others, using this strategy, prefer verbal problems.
Spatial imagination characterized by solving four problems involving operations in two-dimensional space.
Thus, the CAT technique can be used to study a relatively large number of components of general abilities. With its help, a person’s learning ability and business qualities are quite reliably predicted.
Sources
Short Orientation Test (SOT) belongs to the category of mental ability (IQ) tests. IQ tests show general level intellectual development of the individual. In tests to determine IQ, an individual is presented with a series of tasks selected in such a way as to ensure an adequate sampling of all the most important intellectual functions to penetrate the “critical points of intelligence” (Anastasi A. Psychological testing. Book 1. - M., 1982. - P. 205).
There is a group of tests of general mental abilities that were specially developed for rapid preliminary assessment of personnel. The first test in this direction was the “Self-administered Otis test” (Ibid. Book 2, p. 75). The test in most cases had a good validity coefficient for selection for the positions of clerk, computing machine operator, workers, foremen, etc. For highly skilled employees, there was little correlation between test scores and job success.
The most famous adaptation of the Otis test is the Wonderlick test. Unlike the Otis test, the Wonderlick test works well on a sample of highly qualified employees and managers. A. Anastasi notes that the reliability of the test, despite its brevity, is quite satisfactory.
The CAT is an adaptation of the Wonderlic test. The structure of the adapted test corresponds to the structure of general abilities. As a result of adaptation, about half of the texts of the tasks were changed and the structure of the test was brought into line with the structure of general abilities.
The test is based on P. Vernon’s hierarchical model of learning ability, which consists in the fact that the factors that determine abilities can be divided into factors of several levels, with factors of a lower level being derivatives of factors of a higher level. This model is illustrated in Fig.
The integral test indicator is thus associated with learning ability. Learning ability reflects a person’s general abilities, which “express the cognitive activity of the subject and his ability to assimilate new knowledge, actions, complex shapes activity" (Zeigarnik B.V. Pathopsychology. - M., 1976. P. 224). Learning ability is an important trait necessary for mastering any specialty. Currently, there is an acute problem of selecting people who make sense to train in a particular specialty Persons with a high learning ability quickly develop skills and abilities, and internal restructuring is quickly carried out when operating conditions change.
The structure of the adapted CAT test corresponds to the structure of general abilities.
The basis for the computer version of the test was the text of the questionnaire, which was adapted by V.N. Buzin (Workshop on psychodiagnostics. Specific psychodiagnostic materials. - M.: Moscow State University, 1989). As a result of adaptation, about half of the texts of the tasks were changed and the structure of the test was brought into line with the structure of general abilities. The test interpreters changed several geometric tasks, while the structure of the test was preserved.
Thus, CAT is intended to determine the integral indicator “general abilities” and provides for the diagnosis of the following “critical points” (A. Anastasi) of intelligence:
1) The ability to generalize and analyze material.
2) Flexibility of thinking.
3) Inertia of thinking, switchability.
4) Emotional components of thinking, distractibility.
5) Speed and accuracy of perception, distribution and concentration of attention.
6) Language use, literacy.
7) Selection of the optimal strategy, orientation.
8) Spatial imagination.
The integral test indicator (IT) is a complex multiparameter indicator of a person’s general abilities.
When adapting this test, the main efforts were aimed at obtaining apparent content validity (expert validity). The reliability of the test was determined using the Kuder-Richardson method. Alpha ¾ reliability of the CAT, calculated using the Kuder-Richardson formula, was 0.86 (data from V.N. Buzin). Reliability was calculated based on two samples: 6th grade secondary school students (60 people) and persons with higher education, mostly communications engineers (140 people). He also established a correlation of PT with IQ according to the Eysenck numerical test - 0.68, and with IQ according to verbal - 0.61 (significance level p< 0.001). Эти распределения свидетельствуют о зависимости ПТ от уровня образования: при более high level education PT shifts towards increase due to a decrease in the weakest group, solving 6-9 tasks, and an increase in the average group, solving 18-24 tasks. The “strong” group, solving over 30 tasks, in both samples is small and quite stable in size (5-7%). It can be assumed that CAT affects some genetically determined aspects of mental speed and general ability that do not depend on the level of education.

The first four tasks are trial ones. The experimenter reports that their results do not need to be recorded in the protocol. Then, together with all the subjects, he solves trial tasks. After making sure that the instructions were accepted correctly, the experimenter gives instructions to begin work.
The most effective way is to use computer processing of the results of the CAT test. In the absence of such, the psychologist has the right to subject the test results to primitive statistical processing. This is achieved by summing the number of correctly completed tasks. Processing of diagnostic results is carried out according to the formula
