The Ural State Medical Academy (USMA) in 1930 was initially created as the Sverdlovsk State Medical Institute (SGMI), which laid the foundation for the training of highly qualified specialists with higher medical education in the Middle Urals.

In 1995, the university was rightfully awarded the status of the Ural State Medical Academy.

Today, USMA is the leading medical higher education institution in the Ural region.

Over 4,000 students study at eight faculties of the academy.

The Academy trains medical specialists who, after graduating from its walls, are in demand in the cities and towns of the Sverdlovsk region, throughout the entire Ural region and beyond.

SSMI-UGMA

The period of formation and development of SSMI-USMA coincided with significant events in the history of our state. During the war years, teachers and students of the institute were actively involved in the formation and organization of the work of large rear hospitals. In the post-war years, through the efforts of many generations of teachers and staff, it was possible to overcome all difficulties and adversity, preserving and significantly increasing the teaching potential, and developing the material and technical base of the university.

The Academy has 9 faculties:

therapeutic and prophylactic;
pediatric;
dental;
medical and preventive;
pharmaceutical;
higher nursing education;
advanced training and professional retraining of doctors;
specialization of interns and residents, pre-university training;
correspondence department.

Graduates

Many graduates became prominent government figures, heads of medical institutions, well-known scientists in Russia and abroad who founded scientific schools in many areas of medical knowledge. Among them is the Minister of Health of the USSR M.D. Kovrigina, deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation F.G. Zakharov, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation V.I. Starodubov, pilot-cosmonaut V.G. Lazarev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region S.I. Spector, academicians of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences B.T. Velichkovsky, L.L. Buldakov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences A.K. Guskova and others.

Teaching staff

The Academy is deservedly proud of its teaching staff, which includes 1 corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, over 120 doctors of medical sciences, professors, more than 360 candidates of sciences, associate professors.

Research work

A significant part of scientific research is carried out in close collaboration with research institutes of the branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation (Institute of Ecology, Institute of Tuberculosis, Institute of Maternal and Infant Protection, Research Institute of Skin and Venereal Diseases, Scientific Medical Center).

Doctors and candidates of science are trained in 38 scientific specialties. In 4 specialized Academic Councils, dissertations are defended for the scientific degree of candidate and doctor of science.

5. When applying for training in accordance with the specifics established by the Admission Rules for admission to training of persons specified in Part 3.1 of Article 5 or Article 6 of Federal Law No. 84-FZ, a document (documents) confirming that the applicant is such a person in in accordance with the conditions for inclusion among these persons established by the Federal Constitutional Law of March 21, 2014 No. 6-FKZ “On the admission of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and the formation of new entities within the Russian Federation - the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol”;

6. disabled children, people with disabilities, if they intend to participate in a competition based on the results of general education entrance tests for certain categories of applicants - a document confirming their disability;

7. if it is necessary to create special conditions during entrance examinations - a document confirming limited health capabilities or disability that require the creation of these conditions;

8. to use a special right or advantage provided to the winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad - a document confirming that the applicant is the winner or prize-winner of the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren;

9. for the use of a special right or advantage by members of national teams of the Russian Federation - a document confirming that the applicant was included in the number of members of the national team;

10. to use the preferential right of enrollment - a document confirming that the applicant is one of the eligible persons, including persons from among orphans and children left without parental care, until they reach the age of 23 years;

11. for the use of a special right or advantage by winners and prize-winners of schoolchildren’s Olympiads - a document confirming that the applicant is a winner or prize-winner of a schoolchildren’s Olympiad;

12. documents confirming the individual achievements of the applicant, the results of which are taken into account when applying for training (submitted at the discretion of the applicant);

13. other documents (submitted at the discretion of the applicant);

14. 2 photographs of the applicant - for persons applicants based on the results of entrance tests conducted by the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education South Ural State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia independently.

Applicants entering the field according to target quota, when submitting documents, you must provide the original document of education.

A standard document on secondary general education (11 grades), or a standard document on secondary vocational education, or a state document on primary vocational education received before the entry into force of the Federal Law, which confirms receipt of secondary (complete) general education or receipt primary vocational education on the basis of secondary (complete) general education, or a standard document on higher education, or a corresponding document from a foreign state on education (if necessary, the applicant can submit both a document on secondary general education and a document on the corresponding professional education);

3. Application for admission to study (when submitting documents in person, the applicant will be drawn up by an employee of the admissions committee);

4. Medical certificate confirming completion of a mandatory preliminary medical examination (examination);
