On July 26, 2014, I went on the “Tour of Ten Churches” excursion. Everything went great. The guide Alexey told and showed everything. Everything was great. There were about 40 of us. Free time in the Nikolo-Ugreshsky Monastery there was (half an hour) to have time to go to two Temples, write notes, and venerate the Relics of the Saints. Then everything went according to the program, we visited everything and were satisfied. Thanks to Alexey Viktorovich. Wonderful excursion. And thanks to the Travel Store!

Hello, Travel Store. I went to the website to congratulate your entire wonderful team on being awarded the Travel.ru star. I wish you health and good luck in your interesting business. I have been using the services of your company for a year and a half now and it is always interesting days spent with you. I came in, but here I saw Maria’s review of the “Tour of Ten Churches” trip. It was on this trip that I became acquainted with your company. A year and a half has passed, but I retain wonderful memories of the trip and the wonderful guide accompanying us, Gudz Markov Alexey Viktorovich. I will not now describe the trip itself, it is written about in detail on the excursion page, but I will tell you about my impressions, about the work of the guide Alexey Viktorovich. After the excursion, I learned that Alexey Viktorovich is the author of books on the history of the Slavs. As a historical writer, Alexei Viktorovich always has something to tell his listeners, and he does it very interestingly and with pleasure; he always has a new story about this or that event in stock. Alexey Viktorovich is honest, constantly working with archives and new archaeological discoveries, he is a writer-historian who loves his native land. You can feel it from his books (and I read his books), and from his stories on the excursion. Thanks to his competent and open manner of communication, he spoke very clearly and intelligibly about the history of the places where we visited with him. Alexey Viktorovich always gives so much to tourists on his themed trips. He generously shared his knowledge and his thoughts. And his thoughts are pure and beautiful. There was a lot of philosophy, or rather metaphysics, in his stories, and it was always appropriate and very informative. Listening to it is not only interesting, but it seems to transport you to another spiritually rich world. And it feels so good and easy on the soul. The world around is transformed and acquires unimaginable depth and transparency. Thank you, Alexey Viktorovich. After the “Tour of Ten Churches” trip, I came home with wonderful memories that I will keep forever, and with a feeling of deep gratitude, appreciation and respect for Alexey Viktorovich. And for Maria, I want to say that Nadezhda Durova was born in Kyiv on September 17, 1783, in 1789 her father received the position of mayor in the city of Sarapul, Vyatka province, and Nadezhda lived there. She lived in Yelabuga, Vyatka province, when she retired. And there are still many inaccuracies in Maria’s review.

Lesson format: lesson-excursion.

Organizational part.
Teacher's opening speech.
- In the 4th grade in ORKSE there was a lesson on the topic “Conscience”. This lesson was attended by Priest Vyacheslav Gerasimov, who spoke about conscience from an Orthodox point of view and showed a video of the children's Orthodox program “Kupelka” - “Conscience”. After this lesson, the children had a desire to visit an Orthodox church, to find out its purpose and role in the revival of the spiritual traditions of the Russian people. Today we will take an excursion to the Holy Intercession Cathedral in the city of Dzhankoy.

And Father Vyacheslav will tell us about this cathedral.

Excursion progress:
Father Vyacheslav met the children at the entrance to the cathedral. Having made the sign of the cross, we walked into the cathedral territory. Here Father Vyacheslav said that there have always been many churches in Rus' and now Orthodox traditions are being revived. New churches are restored, restored, built, and at the same time the souls of people are healed. Russian people have always tried to dedicate to God the best they are capable of. Since ancient times, temples have been built in the most beautiful places, but before construction they usually prayed for the Lord to indicate the required location. Having learned the will of God, the builders began work.

Rus' loved to build temples -
They have soaring spirit and nobility... (I. Pashkov)

The history of the churches of the Dzhankoy Cathedral goes back more than half a century: the small church was rebuilt and consecrated a month after the end of the war, one of its first prayer books was the holy confessor Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) of Simferopol and Crimea; The new church of the cathedral was founded in the early 1990s and services are already being held there. The Temple of God differs in appearance from other buildings. The shape of the temple is always symbolic. If you look at the temple from a bird's eye view, you will see temples of various shapes. Most often, temples have the shape of a ship, a cross, a circle or a star (octagon). For the most part, the temple at its base is arranged in the form of a cross. This means that the temple is dedicated to the Lord crucified on the cross for us and that through the cross the Lord Jesus Christ delivered us from the power of the Devil.
- How is the temple different from all other buildings?
- It has a dome on which there is a cross.
Domes (or head)- a symbol of the connection of earthly and heavenly.

Holy Rus' is alive, Russia is alive...
It burns, the domes shine,
From sea to sea
WITH new strength
its bells are ringing...
(E. Chernukhin)

Above the entrance to the temple, and sometimes next to the temple, a bell tower, or belfry, is built, that is, a tower on which the bells hang. The people of Rus' have always loved the ringing of bells and called it “raspberry”. The ringing of one bell is called “blagovest” (good, joyful news about the divine service).
The ringing of all the bells, expressing Christian joy on the occasion of a solemn holiday, etc., is called “trezvon.” The ringing of bells to mark a sad event is called “chime.” The ringing of bells reminds us of the higher, heavenly world.

The Orthodox Church is divided into three parts: porch, myself temple(middle part) and altar.

The narthex In the narthex there used to be those who were preparing for baptism and penitents who were temporarily excommunicated from communion. The vestibules in monastery churches were often also used as refectories. Currently, the vestibule is relatively small. Candles are sold here, and you can write notes about health and repose.

Temple
Here we are in the temple itself. The second largest part is a place for parishioners gathered for church services. Stands in the center lectern(Greek “book stand”) - a high, elongated tetrahedral table with a flat board for the convenience of reading liturgical books while standing or venerating icons placed on it) with an icon of the holiday.

Along the edges of the soleya near the walls of the temple there are choirs - places for singers and readers. The very name of the kliros comes from the name of the singer-priests “kliroshans”, that is, singers from the clergy, clergy (Greek “lot, allotment”).

Ahead we see a whole wall of icons. It's called iconostasis. There are icons on it in several rows. (Each row has its own name. The rows of the iconostasis can be three, five, seven - as far as the height of the temple allows).

In the center of the iconostasis there are doors - Royal Doors. (Through them they bring out the Gospel - the good news about Christ the King. To the right of the Royal Doors is always the icon of Christ the Savior, and to the left is always the icon of the Mother of God.)

Behind the iconostasis is altar- the most important part of the temple. The altar symbolizes heaven, the realm of God's existence. (The clergy usually pray in the altar, and no one has the right to enter there without a blessing. The first ray of the sun hits the altar.)

Priest Vyacheslav Gerasimov said that the most important place in the altar is throne- a specially consecrated quadrangular table, decorated with two materials: the lower one - white linen and the upper one - brocade. It is believed that Christ himself is invisibly present on the throne and therefore only priests can touch it. On the throne there is always an antimension, the main sacred object of the temple. This is a silk cloth consecrated by the bishop depicting the position of Christ in the tomb, the altar Gospel, and the cross.

Father Vyacheslav said that there are many icons in the temple. An icon is a picture that depicts the face of a saint or the events of Sacred history. (Orthodox Christians pray to Christ, angels and saints). Particularly revered is the icon of the Mother of God, called “Tenderness.” Every year on August 10 (July 28th), a day of celebration of the icon of the Mother of God “Tenderness” of Seraphim-Diveevskaya is held in the Intercession Cathedral in the city of Dzhankoy.

The icon was a cell image of St. Seraphim of Sarov. With oil from the lamp that burned in front of the cell icon, the Monk Seraphim anointed the sick, and they received healing. In front of this icon, the monk departed to the Lord. Another name for the icon is “The Joy of All Joys.” This is what St. Seraphim himself often called this icon.

After the glorification of St. Seraphim as a saint, Emperor Nicholas II presented a precious robe for the icon. In 1927, the Diveyevo Monastery, where the original “Joy of All Joys” icon was located, was closed, but the holy image was secretly removed. For decades it was kept by pious people. In June 1991, the icon was handed over to Patriarch Alexy II, and now it is in the Patriarchal residence. Once a year - on the holiday of Praise Holy Mother of God- The Seraphim-Diveyevo Icon “Tenderness” is brought out for public veneration at the Patriarchal Epiphany Cathedral.
Father Vyacheslav told and showed how to venerate icons correctly, after which those who wished venerated the icon of the Mother of God “Tenderness”.

And to the icon of the Ascension of Christ.

When they want to pray, they place a candle in front of the icon and address the words of prayer to the one depicted on the icon. Christians do not pray to icons. They pray in front of icons. Christians pray to the one they see on the icon.

Church candle- a symbol of the prayer of a believer. By its burning in front of the icon, the candle symbolizes the believer’s love for the Lord Jesus Christ, the Mother of God or a saint, and expresses a person’s desire for spiritual transformation, just as wax turns into fire. Since a candle is bought, it is a person’s voluntary sacrifice to God and His temple for himself and for his neighbors. As usual, candles are lit for good health. But there is a funeral table in the church - “eve”; There they light candles and pray for people who have already passed away from earthly life. At the end of the excursion, the children asked questions, to which Priest Vyacheslav Gerasimov gave comprehensive answers.

The merging of the love of all Christians.
Reminder - light comes from God,
And all roads lead us to the temple.
The candle burns as a symbol of our faith,
And faith in the heart is God's gift.
And let the priest in the temple every day,
He carries a lit candle to the altar.

The children were interested in the table on which were books prepared for the service of the ascension of Jesus Christ. The books are written in Old Church Slavonic. The guys remembered that the creators of the Old Church Slavonic alphabet were the monks Cyril and Methodius. Father Vyacheslav told the children that in the Middle Ages, worship was allowed only in three languages: Latin, Greek and Hebrew (as the Gospel legend tells, the inscription on the cross on which Jesus was crucified was written in Hebrew, Ancient Greek and Latin). Cyril and Methodius achieved recognition from the Pope Old Slavonic language the fourth language of the church, which was a major victory in their struggle for the rights of the Slavs to conduct worship in their native language.

We say goodbye. In the church shop, the children bought personalized icons, crosses and candles.

We have become a little more educated, we have become more acquainted with Orthodox culture. My soul is lighter. Thank you all and glory to God.

Christian relics of Moscow

Ask a question

in Moscow

Since the time of Epiphany, Rus' has been the ark of its shrines, their guardian and zealous defender. And today Moscow remains one of the Christian treasuries. During the excursion we will visit the Sretensky Monastery, where a copy of the Shroud of Turin is kept, we will go to the St. John the Baptist Convent, where queens from the Romanov family asked for help in childbirth, and we will certainly visit the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh. This is your unique chance to get acquainted with the most interesting relics of the “third Rome”!

Price: from 850 RUB

Moscow is the third Rome. Our ancestors believed in this. And the echoes of this great faith have remained to this day. In a quiet Moscow church there are more relics at the same time than in the Vatican! What about the Vatican, because in Moscow you can venerate all the main relics of Jerusalem! Do you have any doubts? Then we invite you on a tour

Christian relics of Moscow

Our tour will begin in a small temple St. Sergius of Radonezh in Krapivniki, hidden in a quiet Moscow side street. The inconspicuous temple turns out to be more spacious than the heavens. Literally and figuratively, at the very core of the spiritual life of the temple stands the Cross - Kiy Cross of Patriarch Nikon, in which the relics of saints from the 1st to the 17th centuries rest, numbering up to three hundred, and sixteen stones from the sites of biblical events. “And if anyone with faith desires to come to that Life-giving Cross to worship, no less than by the power of that Holy, Honest and Life-giving Cross, grace will be given, just as those traveling to the holy places of Palestine, in whom Christ our God will fulfill His holy vision,” Patriarch Nikon thought so, and so many pilgrims believed when going to worship the Cross. The story about this unique shrine that you will hear in the temple will undoubtedly be a discovery for many.

There are many Christian relics in the world. Perhaps the most famous relic is "Shroud of Turin". The Shroud is the cloth in which the body of Jesus Christ was wrapped after his death. There were bloody marks on it from the wounds of the body of Christ. In addition, scientists were able to detect the face of Jesus Christ on it and restore his image. It owes its name “Turinskaya” to the city of Turin, in which it is stored. Up to late XIX no centuries scientific research The Shroud was not carried out - it was only an object of worship for believers. However, a little over a hundred years ago, the Shroud of Turin was first allowed to be photographed by the Italian photographer Secundo Pia. While processing the photographs, he was surprised and awed to discover that the glass negative revealed a strikingly clear image of Christ. It was the receipt of this negative that marked the beginning of the study of the phenomenon of the Shroud of Turin.

IN Sretensky Monastery, founded in 1397 at the meeting place of the miraculous Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God in memory of the deliverance of Moscow from the invasion of Tamerlane, a copy of the Shroud of Turin (positive and negative) is kept. There are only five such copies in the world. The famous American scientist John Jackson transferred it to the Moscow Center for the Study of the Shroud of Turin, and Patriarch Alexy II consecrated it on October 7, 1997 as the Image of the Savior Not Made by Hands.

In the very center of Moscow, not far from the Kremlin and Kitay-gorod, on a high hill near Solyanki street John the Baptist Convent, which is one of the oldest women's monasteries in Moscow. Architectural appearance monastery, created by the wonderful Moscow architect M.D. Bykovsky, very interesting. The dome of the main cathedral is reminiscent of the dome of the world famous temple of Santa Maria del Fiere in Florence. The history of the monastery is full of unique pages. Historical legends The foundation of the monastery is most often associated with the birth of the first Russian Tsar - Ivan the Terrible. Subsequently, it became the custom of the queens from the Romanov family in this monastery to ask for help in successfully resolving childbirth. Since 1654, the famous “women's wool fairs” were held under the walls of the monastery. Among the nuns of the monastery there were many forced ones. The most famous of them is the nun Dosifeya, the legendary princess Tarakanova. One of the monastery’s shrines has a unique history - the ancient image of St. John the Baptist with a hoop.. This relic consists of two parts: actually, the image of St. the prophet John and a metal copper hoop, which is attached to the icon on a chain and stored in a special casket. Miracles from this shrine continue in our time.

Duration of the excursion ~ 5 hours (approximately).

Representatives of these temples will conduct a tour of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Krapivniki and Sretensky Monastery. In Sretensky Monastery, by agreement with the host party, it is possible to end the excursion with a monastery lunch.
