Vacations in the 2016-2017 academic year

• Autumn holidays in the 2016-2017 academic year will begin on October 29, 2016 and end on November 6, 2016. The duration of the autumn holidays 2016 will be 9 days.
• Winter New Year holidays in the 2016-2017 academic year will begin on December 24, 2016 and will last until January 8, 2017. The duration of the winter holidays will be 16 days.
• Spring break in the 2016-2017 academic year will begin on March 25, 2017 and will last until April 2, 2017. The duration of spring break will be 9 days.
• Summer holidays V 2017 will begin on May 27, 2017 and will last until September 1, 2017.

Additional holidays for first-graders may be introduced from February 18 to February 26, 2017. In addition, students in Russian educational institutions will have days off on February 23, 2016, March 8, 2016, May 2, 2016, and May 9, 2016.

It is also necessary to recall that vacation dates are only recommended by the Ministry of Education, and the final decision on the timing and duration of vacations rests with the teaching council of educational institutions.

Additional holidays or rescheduling of holidays in schools and other educational institutions are possible for the following reasons:

• Low air temperature- minus 25 degrees Celsius for primary school; minus 28 degrees - for high school; minus 30 degrees for students in grades 10 and 11.
• Low temperature in classrooms. When the air temperature in classrooms is below +18 degrees, it is prohibited to conduct classes.
• Quarantine and exceeding the morbidity threshold. Quarantine can be declared in a separate school, a separate district, city or region if the epidemic incidence threshold of 25% of the total number of students is exceeded.

Vacations for students in the 2016-2017 academic year

There are significantly fewer vacations at universities, namely, students rest only in winter and summer. It is difficult to find out the exact schedule, since each university assigns them depending on the sessions. If we talk about winter holidays, then the holidays begin at the end of January and end in the second week of February. In the summer, everything also depends on the session and practice, which can be scheduled for June, which is why it will be possible to go on vacation only in July. Also, the practice may be postponed to August, and the holidays will begin in mid-June. It all depends on specific university, therefore, in order to carefully plan your vacation, it is better to first ask representatives of the administration of the Higher Educational Institution. The only thing that can be said for sure is that the holidays should not be less than 6 weeks.

At school, spring break for Russian schoolchildren will take place on different dates. Although the spring holidays will take place more or less on similar dates, even in the two most major cities countries - Moscow and St. Petersburg - spring holidays will take place in different, albeit neighboring, weeks. Let's figure out when spring holidays begin in the 2017-2018 academic year for Russian schoolchildren in different cities of the country and in schools with different forms of organizing the educational process, and how long they will last.

When will spring break be in the 2017-2018 school year in Russian schools?

The vacation schedule in schools is left to the discretion of regional education authorities, and sometimes the right to set vacation dates is given to the head educational institution- to the school director. Therefore, in principle, there is no general vacation schedule for the entire country.

There is a reason for this policy of the Ministry of Education. Russia is a country of vast territories, and in many cases it is better known locally when it is best to set holidays for children. Only a few rules remain common to the entire country, which relate to the number of rest days for schoolchildren during the school year.

Sometimes the dates of spring holidays may be shifted or this holiday itself may be completely canceled due to quarantine during winter flu epidemics. This is done to ensure that schoolchildren have time to complete the program.

Another nuance regarding vacations is related to the fact that alone Russian schools(and of course, the majority of them) continue to divide the academic year into the usual four quarters, but there are also those where the year is divided into trimesters. In schools with three trimesters, vacations are provided not only at the end of the trimester, but also in the middle, so vacations in schools with different forms of organization of the educational process coincide only in the summer and on New Year. In autumn and spring they diverge quite noticeably.

We will not be able to tell you about the school holiday schedule in all cities of Russia - this is an almost impossible task. We will give just a few examples of when spring holidays will be in some cities of the country and give one helpful advice, how to clarify the holiday dates at a specific school that interests you.

Let's start with schools, of which the majority are those where the school year is divided into quarters. Here are some examples of when the spring holidays of the 2017-2018 school year will begin in different cities of the country according to documents adopted by local educational departments:

• Moscow – from April 1 to 8.
• St. Petersburg - from March 24 to April 1.
• Tomsk - from March 22 to April 1.
• Sarov (Nizhny Novgorod region) - from March 26 to April 1.

This extremely short list demonstrates only one thing - in none of the four cities that we took almost at random, the vacation dates coincide with other cities.

As for schools that use trimesters, the bulk of them are located in Moscow, so let’s contact the capital’s education department to clarify when spring holidays begin and end in such schools:

• From February 18 to 25 there will be holidays, which can be called both late winter and early spring.
• from April 8 to April 15 – spring break in such schools.

Please note that holidays from February 18 to February 25 are also provided in Moscow for first-graders in schools that use the traditional four-quarter teaching mode.

The only advice we can give you if you are interested in spring break is to check the start and end dates at your school. As a rule, such information is published on the school’s website (if it is maintained more or less conscientiously). If there is no such information there, you can check the dates of the holidays with the school secretary or your child’s class teacher. Who determines the dates for the 2017 fall school holidays?

The Russian Ministry of Education stipulates that students must rest for 30 calendar days in one academic year, excluding summer holidays. In addition, recommendations are given on what periods are best to take a break from classes, so as not to lose track of your school curriculum and have time to go through everything planned, while at the same time lightly loading the growing body with large amounts of information. But every educational institution has the right to adjust timing school autumn holidays of the 2017-2018 academic year in such a way that they do not “break” their own program according to which they study in a particular educational institution.

In other words, the timing and number of days of school holidays vary depending on the decision of the administration of each school individually.

In what cases can school holidays be canceled or postponed?

Autumn holidays schedule 2017

Autumn holidays for the 2017-2018 academic year will begin on October 28 and will continue until November 6.

On the calendar, the end date falls on Monday, because according to the production calendar, Saturday, November 4th, is a non-working day and is moved to November 6th. Thanks to this holiday, the length of the holidays this year has increased by one day.

Winter holidays 2017-2018

The second holidays occur in the middle of winter - the last week of the year and most New Year holidays. In 2018, they will begin on December 25 and will last until January 8 inclusive.

The number of days off can be increased in the event of very unfavorable weather conditions (usually very severe frosts - from -25 C), quarantine, or in the case when the educational premises are not heated enough - if the temperature in the classroom is lower than +18 C, classes are not allowed.

The Ministry of Education provides additional winter holidays only for first grade students, lasting one week. The weekend for little ones starts on February 19th.

Spring break. Schedule 2018

The third holiday should be expected in the spring. Spring holidays for the 2017-2018 academic year are scheduled for the period from March 26 to April 1.

Taking into account the weekend, children will rest for 9 days from March 24 to April 1, and on April 2 they will return to their desks.

However, in practice, these deadlines can be changed by school management to prevent the spread of viral diseases (influenza, ARVI). As a rule, such quarantines occur in mid-March. The guidelines call for 7 to 10 days of rest, but the number of days off may be increased given how aggressively seasonal respiratory illnesses spread.

Summer holidays 2018

For schoolchildren junior classes(1-4) they begin on May 25th.
Students of grades 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 can forget about studying on the first day of summer.
For senior schoolchildren, the holidays will begin after all exams provided for by the State Final Certification.

For students receiving education in educational institutions with a trimester system, vacations begin after five (sometimes six) school weeks - approximately 35 days. The duration of the vacation is 7 calendar days.

Summer holidays 2018
The summer holiday period is the same for all institutions school education regardless of the system that is implemented in them. Summer holidays last three calendar months - from June 1 to August 31.

The favorite time of the year for schoolchildren is summer - this is the longest vacation period, when you can take a break from classes and not think about lessons. The rest of the time, children also have the opportunity to take a short break from school: in the fall, winter and spring there are rest periods after the end of each quarter.

School holidays during the 2018-2019 school year will also be no exception, and children will be able to take breaks from their studies, although not all schools will take them at the same time.

General provisions

Periods free from school must be provided to all students at the same time. Their duration is regulated by the Law of the Russian Federation “On Education” and the school Charter. The calendar schedule for the academic year must be developed and approved by the educational institution.

The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation does not set exact dates for children's holidays in all educational institutions, but is only limited to recommendations on the timing of rest periods for Russian students, taking into account their training in quarters or trimesters. There are also schools and gymnasiums that provide children with additional vacation periods, and for first-graders, in addition to general ones, a 7-day vacation in February is mandatory.

During the school year total number rest days are at least 30 (for first-graders - 35), and in the summer - at least 56 calendar days. The mandatory start date is September 1.

Vacation schedule for schools and gymnasiums for 2018-2019

When studying at school in quarters, the recommended rest periods in schools, gymnasiums and lyceums are 7 calendar days in the fall, 2 weeks in the winter and 1 week in the spring. Two additional days at the discretion of the administration educational institution can be added to autumn or winter holidays taking into account public holidays (November 4 and New Year).

This means that the holiday schedule for 2018-2019. may include the following vacation dates:

• autumn - from October 27 to November 5, 2018;
• winter - from December 26, 2018 to January 8, 2019;
• spring - from March 23 to March 31, 2019

1. Summer holidays begin for junior school students on May 23-25, and for high school students (except for 9th and 11th grades) - from June 1st. Graduates will graduate educational process in accordance with the exam schedule, taking place from the end of May to the end of June.
2. Day national unity in 2018 it falls on a Sunday, so the autumn holidays of the 2018-2019 academic year will most likely begin on October 29 and end on November 5, amounting to 8 days, and taking into account the weekends (October 27 and 28) - 9-10 days. During this time, schoolchildren will be able to have a good rest, visit museums and theaters, go to the cinema and spend time with parents and friends.
3. The 2019 New Year holidays begin for schoolchildren after December 25, 2018 and continue until January 9, 2019. All-Russian holidays fall during this time new year holidays, so the guys will be able to spend them with their families. Family vacations can be spent at ski resorts and on trips to interesting places in Russia. Throughout the country at this time there are many fun activities for children that the whole family can attend.
4. The spring holidays of the 2018-2019 academic year will begin on March 23, and schoolchildren will begin their studies on April 1, 2019. Vacations under the modular system are calculated according to the following scheme: training - 5-6 weeks, then rest - 7 days. Children take the following breaks from their studies:

• in the fall of 2018, these days fall on October 7-13 and November 18-24;
• in winter - from December 29, 2018 to January 8, 2019 and February 18-24;
• in the spring of 2019 - April 8-14.

Additional holidays for first-graders

Additional holidays for first-graders in 2018-2019 will be held from February 25 to March 3. They were introduced in order to help young schoolchildren better adapt to school and spend the longest quarter of the school period. The same additional vacation period is recommended for students in correctional educational institutions. In some schools, holidays in February are arranged for all students primary classes from 1 to 4.

The vacation schedule in schools in various Russian regions during the school period may undergo minor changes due to the transfer holidays and decisions of local school authorities. Only in Moscow does the Department of Education establish a unified educational schedule for students using the traditional and modular system.
