Biography of Dmitry Revyakin

Childhood and family of Dmitry Revyakin

Dima was born in Novosibirsk, and spent his entire childhood in Transbaikalia, in the Chita region, in the village of Pervomaisky. He developed a passion for music as a child; Dima studied at a music school and learned to play the button accordion.

His other hobby was reading. Mom taught literature, there were many books in the house. It was his mother who instilled her son’s love for books.
After graduating from school, the young man became a student at the Electrical Engineering Institute of Novosibirsk. Dima wrote poetry. It is known that he sometimes hosted student discos, acting as a disc jockey.

The beginning of the career of musician Dmitry Revyakin

As a student, Dmitry recorded several solo albums. One was called “The Board Broke Off”, and the other was called “All sorts of different songs”. He recorded them in one night. The students of his department were his first listeners. We can say that the future musical group started just from these solo albums. It should be noted that many of those songs became incredibly popular, but there were also some among them that were never performed publicly by Revyakin again.

Dmitry Revyakin and the Kalinov Most group

The Siberian rock band was officially organized in 1986. The music and lyrics were written by Dmitry. Dmitry Selivanov, who was a student at the same electrical engineering institute, was also at the origins.

Both Dmitrys were well known in their educational institution, both of them were eliminated by the commission selecting students for amateur artistic activities. The meeting under the office doors became the day the group was formed, which was initially called “Health,” which lasted a year. Then the Equinox group was organized. Only in 1986, Viktor Chaplygin and Andrei Shchennikov joined the duo, then the group was renamed, and a familiar name appeared - “Kalinov Most”.

Dmitry Revyakin and Kalinov Most

The guys held their first performance at the Electrical Engineering Institute. Soon Konstantin Kinchev met Revyakin and the guys from Most. It was he who contributed to the fact that the group from Siberia came to Leningra with a concert. From its very first performance, “Kalinov Most” amazed the audience.

Dmitry Revyakin -Kalinov most / Dmitry Revyakin “NATIVE”

Largely thanks to Revyakin’s original poetry and original melody, the concert in Moscow was a great success. The creative power of the group surprised the audience. It is known that the group did not receive a prize because of Dmitry, who sang into the microphone a word that should not have been used. Although the swearers were left without a prize, they became known throughout the country.

Dmitry Revyakin's move to Moscow

A year later, Revyakin and the group were again in Moscow, where they were supposed to perform. There I met Stas Namin. He invited the guys to record in his studio. So, in the fall of 1988, Kalinov Most moved in full force to Moscow.

The year has been difficult. In reality, everything was not as rosy as we wanted: unsuccessful concerts, disrupted recordings, discord in the team. Reunited with the original lineup, the group returned to their homeland. It was Revyakin who initiated the reunion of all the guys. In Novosibirsk, “KM” practiced new songs, and only came to the capital for concerts or to record an album.

Golden time in Revyakin’s work: discography of “Kalinov Most”

Dmitry Revyakin considers the time after returning from Moscow to be golden. There was complete mutual understanding in the group. He wrote a lot of songs during that period, sometimes he wrote several songs in one day. He did this in any conditions: on the bus, in a hotel, between rehearsals, in the studio, and so on.
In the early nineties, the result of the poet and musician’s work began to resemble ethnic rock, “neofolk”. Russian dance intonations, shamanic chants, and chants of nomadic peoples appeared. The world of Dmitry's poetry is plotless, abstract figurative series, metaphors. Revyakin's vocals change from an aggressive growl to soaring, light, almost folk singing.

In 1992, the group practically broke up. Only Revyakin and Smolentsev remained. Together they had to work on “Ulchi Belt” - an epic song that is the peak album of the group.

Dmitry Revyakin: “There is no need to compete with Tsoi”

Over the course of several years, the guys kept getting together and then scattered again. In 1995, the album “Traven” was released, which became their highest-grossing album. After that, “KM” was gone. Kalinov Most was reunited again only in 1997. Revyakin and the group went on tour to London, where the guys performed at the University. Dmitry was very surprised to realize in England that one could dance to his music.

In 1998, Revyakin, together with “KM,” became a participant in the London festival, and soon the guys went on a voyage abroad. They performed in Iraq and Israel. Dmitry continued to work there and wrote two songs.

Revyakin currently

Dmitry's performance lately can be called exorbitant. One, and sometimes two, albums are released annually, and all of them are of excellent quality. It cannot be said that he put his creativity on stream.

Dmitry Revyakin now regularly releases new albums

In 2007, “KM” released an album called “Ice March”. This name directly refers to this historical event, like the retreat of Kolchak’s army in Transbaikalia. According to Revyakin, the revival of Russia will begin precisely from the East.

Since the end of 2010, Dmitry began working on a solo project. In 2012, his solo album was released, where each work is like a small masterpiece. This work can be called varied and strong, all the songs there are not similar to each other.

Personal life of Dmitry Revyakin

It is known that the name of the group was suggested by Dmitry’s girlfriend, who later became his wife and muse. Her name was Olga. The marriage produced a son. However, Dmitry's wife died, and he is raising his son alone.

The album “Heart”, released by the KM group in 2009, was dedicated to Revyakin’s deceased wife.

Now the musician lives permanently in Moscow, where he continues his work with the KM group; his parents remain in Chita.

Dmitry Alexandrovich Revyakin(February 13, Novosibirsk) - musician, poet, composer, member of the Russian Writers' Union. Creator and leader of the Kalinov Most group.

Biography

He spent his childhood in the village of Pervomaisky, Chita region. As a child, he was an exemplary child; he studied accordion at a music school. My mother, a literature teacher, instilled a love for books in me.

After finishing school, Dmitry enters. During his student years, he begins to write poetry and work as a DJ at college discos. During his student days, Dmitry created the Kalinov Most group.

Dmitry begins to engage in solo work before the creation of the group. “The Board Broke Off” and “All sorts of different songs” are albums of that period. Subsequently, solo projects appeared in different time- both during the prosperous existence of “Most” and at a time when the group was not working. Recently, Revyakin’s solo albums have been supplemented by his book of poems, “The Wrath of the Owl.” Let's hope this is not the last work of Revyakin the poet presented to the public.

The albums “The Board Broke Off” and “All sorts of different songs” were recorded in one winter night, and the first listeners of the two newly made albums were students of the radio engineering faculty of NETI, from which, in fact, Kalinov Most began. Some of these songs were incredibly popular in the acoustic performance of Dima Revyakin, some were performed for the first time during the recording and were never performed publicly again.

These albums were recorded in January 1988. The recipe is simple: a household reel-to-reel tape recorder "Electronics 004" with a speed of 19.05 cm/sec, a magnetic tape "Slavich", a pair of microphones and a container of some kind of alcoholic drink.

In 2007, he released the outstanding solo project “Harvest”, which became a notable phenomenon in the Russian music industry; the project is recognized as one of the most multi-instrumental in the entire history of Russian rock.

In March 2008, Dmitry Revyakin, in an unusual role as a model, took part in a large-scale photo project

Musician

Dmitry Revyakin was born in Novosibirsk on February 13, 1964, and spent his childhood in Transbaikalia, in the village of Pervomaisky, Chita Region.
The group "Kalinov Most" was born in November 1984 in Novosibirsk. At the origins were two Dmitrys - Revyakin and Selivanov, and the group was first called “Health”, then “Equinox”. The current name was established in 1986, at which time the permanent drummer Viktor Chaplygin appeared, and bassist Andrei Shchennikov arrived a little earlier. Selivanov, who initially arranged Revyakin’s music, left the team twice. In 1987, he did this finally, founding his collective “Industrial Architecture” (Dmitry Selivanov died tragically in 1989). He was replaced by Vasily Smolentsev, a guitarist with a very unique style. The composition of Kalinov Most has been stable since then. In 15 years, only the bass player has changed - now Evgeniy Baryshev plays in the team. The others also left, but invariably returned.
The group's first full concert took place on January 11, 1987 at the Novosibirsk Electrotechnical Institute, where Revyakin studied. An accidental witness to this performance was Konstantin Kinchev, who invited the Siberian nuggets to perform in Leningrad. Then events developed rapidly: in the summer the group performed at the famous rock festival in Podolsk, and in 1988 they were invited to work at the Stas Namin Center. The press, which at that time showed an almost morbid interest in Russian rock, savored with pleasure the “fairytale” name of the group and the external resemblance of its leader to Jim Morrison.
Cooperation with SNC did not work out. The Sibiryaks were frustrated by living in Moscow, and the group clearly had a creative crisis. In concerts, “Kalinov Most” played songs from 1986, unable to offer anything new. The first to break down was Smolentsev, who left for Novosibirsk. After playing with a session guitarist, the band broke up. Only in 1990 did Kalinov Most gather again, but no longer made any attempts to conquer Moscow and get to the top of the charts. Musicians still spend most of their time in Siberia, visiting the capitals on short visits.
Ignoring the large-scale onslaught of phonogram pop, Kalinov Most focused on music lessons. In the early 90s. the group releases the albums "Vyvoroten", "Uzaren", "Darza" (all - 1992), "Ulchi Belt", "Liven" (both - 1994). Even the titles of the records testify to the experimental nature of Dmitry Revyakin’s poems. The texts become more complex, unknown words appear in them, which were enthusiastically received by critics, but somewhat bewildered by the audience. Meanwhile, internal disagreements began in the group, due to which in 1992 only Revyakin and Smolentsev remained in the team. In rare concerts of this period, “Kalinov Most” played with temporary Novosibirsk musicians, and Moscow stars Sergei Voronov, Sergei Mazaev, Inna Zhelannaya and others were invited to record “Ulchi Belt”.
On June 4, 1993, the group gave a concert with a “golden” line-up, but it turned out to be a one-time event. The next two years were not the best either. Another creative crisis again led to the dissolution of Kalinov Most. As a keepsake for fans, the concert collection “Traven” released in 1996 (it was recorded in March 1995 in the studio of the TV program “Live with Max”) with their favorite songs “Leaving Home” and “Girl in the Summer” remained as a souvenir.
In 1996, information about the untimely death of Kalinov Most was confirmed by rumors about some clouding of the mind of the team leader Dmitry Revyakin. He left for a long time for treatment in Transbaikalia, and upon his return he assembled a new composition, “Revyakin and his associates.” In 1987, the company Moroz Records, known for its passion for releasing anthologies, started releasing the archive of the Kalinov Most group under the name "True". To present this large-scale series, the team again gathered on October 17 as Revyakin - Smolentsev - Shchennikov - Chaplygin on the stage of the Central House of Artists. This is how the next (and so far last) reunion took place, only Baryshev became the bassist at the end of 1998.
In 1998, Kalinov Most released the single “Rodnaya” and the disc “Weapon”. The album even enjoys some commercial success. The group had its first video clips: for the songs “Rodnaya”, “Left Home” (cut from archival footage) and “Saving”.
In 1999, the Kalinov Most disc “Fly Away” opened the “Main Songs” series launched by Real Records. The album was a great gift for the band's fans, because it contained all the band's hits. At the beginning of 2000, "Most" released a concert collection "Katun", recorded during the festival "In the Mountains, on a Fast River", and a maxi-single "Jerusalem", which included the literary and musical composition "Keys".
