OriginsThe ancestor of the Air Force Academy in Voronezh is considered to be the Military Airfield Technical School. It was founded in Stalingrad by decision of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces at the end of 1948. However, its activities began in 1950.
In 1954, VATU was relocated to the city of Michurinsk, Tambov region. In 1963, it was decided to rename this educational institution. However, a few months later the university was relocated again.
History of the Voronezh Higher Military Aviation Engineering SchoolAt the end of 1963, Michurinsky VATU moved to its current location. In 1975, it was decided to improve its status and the school was transformed into the Voronezh Higher Military Aviation Engineering School (VVAIU). In this regard, the duration of training was increased to 4 years. In order to ensure that as a result of these transformations there was no interruption in providing the Air Force with the necessary specialists, as an exception, in 1975 a simultaneous recruitment of applicants with both secondary technical and higher education was carried out. The first graduation of officers with diplomas of higher specialized education in Voronezh took place in 1979. To improve the level of training of graduates in the future, the training programs were extended to 5 years.
In the period from 1979 to 1989, a lot of work was done in the field of development at VVAIU scientific activity, which made it possible to open an adjunct.
In the 90s, the Voronezh School had a branch located in Borisoglebsk. It was created on the basis of the local “flight” military school named after Valery Chkalov.
The Voronezh Air Force Academy emerged as a result of the merger of several educational institutions.
In 1998, VVAIU was transformed into the Military Aviation Engineering Institute. After 8 years, the Voronezh Military Institute of Radio Electronics was added to it.
In 2007, the university received state accreditation. The first of them currently has 10 departments, where, along with Russian cadets, military experts from Armenia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Guinea, Mali, Kyrgyzstan, China, the Republic of Chad, Vietnam, Sudan, Burundi, Angola, Mongolia, Djibouti, Sri - Lanka, Laos, Libya and Nicaragua. The Syzran Military Institute was founded shortly before the start of the Second World War, and was initially based in Saratov. In the most difficult years, he carried out accelerated training of glider pilots for the front. In the period 1979-1989, 12 graduates of the university became Heroes of the Soviet Union for feats accomplished in the skies of Afghanistan, and 19 pilots who graduated from the Syzran Military Institute received gold stars while participating in the operations of the Chechen War.
The duration of training in any of the specialties of vocational education is 22 months, and higher education- 5 years.

Rules for admission to the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Air Force "Air Force Academy named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky and Yu.A. Gagarin" (branch, Krasnodar) for the 2014-2015 academic year
Branch (Krasnodar) of the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Air Force "Air Force Academy named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky and Yu.A. Gagarin" for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation trains officers in the following specialties:
1. “Flight operation and use of aviation complexes”
qualification - “specialist”:
fighter aviation pilot, front-line bomber aviation pilot, attack aviation pilot, military transport aviation pilot, pilot long-range aviation;
military transport aviation navigator, long-range aviation navigator, fighter aviation navigator, naval aviation navigator, front-line bomber aviation navigator.
2. “Operation of aircraft and air traffic management”
qualification - “specialist”:
combat control officer.
Duration of training is 5 years.
Citizens of the Russian Federation are admitted to the branch of the VUNTS Air Force "VVA":
- those who have not completed military service - aged 16 to 22 years;
- those who have completed or are undergoing conscription military service, regardless of military specialty - until they reach 24 years of age;
- military personnel performing military service under a contract (except for officers), until they reach the age of 25 years.
All applicants must have a state-issued document on average (full) general, average vocational education or a diploma of primary vocational education, if it contains a record of the citizen receiving secondary (complete) general education. Candidates entering the university must meet the requirements of professional selection conducted upon admission.
Those wishing to enroll in a university before April 20 submit an application to the military commissariat at their place of residence. The application shall indicate: last name, first name, patronymic, year, date and month of birth, address of the candidate’s place of residence, name of the university and specialty in which he wishes to study.
The application is accompanied by: photocopies of a birth certificate and a document proving identity and citizenship, an autobiography, a reference from a place of work, study or service, a photocopy of a state-issued document on the appropriate level of education, four certified photographs (without headdress) measuring 4.5x6 cm, military service card.
The arrival of candidates is carried out by call from the university through the military commissariat at the candidate’s place of residence.
When arriving at the VUNTS Air Force VVA branch, have with you:
1) passport (check for the presence of a registration mark on the territory of the Russian Federation);
2) registration certificate (military ID)
3) birth certificate;
4) original documents about education;
5) prescription and food certificate issued by the military commissariat.
Persons who have completed the first and subsequent courses of higher education educational institutions who have state accreditation, in addition, upon arrival at the university must present an academic certificate.
Candidates arriving at the VUNTS Air Force VVA branch are provided with free food and accommodation.
From July 1 to July 20, all candidates undergo professional selection, during which the following is determined:
— suitability for admission due to health reasons;
— assessment of the level of physical fitness of candidates (pull-ups on the horizontal bar; 100 m run; 3 km run);
— assessment of the level of general education training is carried out based on the results of the Unified State Exam (USE) in mathematics, Russian language and physics.
Categories of citizens who have the right to enter the military educational institutions without entrance examinations, outside the competition (subject to successful completion of the professional selection), as well as the preferential right to admission, are determined by the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Candidates who are not accepted into the branch for various reasons are sent to military commissariats at their place of residence. At the same time, all documents submitted by them are returned to them against a personal receipt.
Candidates who have successfully passed the professional selection and passed the competition, based on the decision admissions committee, are enrolled in the university as cadets by order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation.
During their studies at the university, cadets enjoy all the rights and benefits determined by the Law of the Russian Federation “On the Status of Military Personnel” and are fully supported by the state. They receive a salary according to established standards. Cadets are annually granted a winter vacation of two weeks, as well as a regular vacation of 30 days.
After graduation, graduates receive higher military-special education in accordance with the state educational standard; a state-issued diploma of appropriate education and the qualification “specialist” are issued and the military rank of “lieutenant” is awarded.
